I was walking through Brighton’s boho North Laine and noticed Carlo walking towards me. I spoke with him and asked if he would agree to being photographed for 85STYLE. He graciously accepted without hesitation.
What stopped me was his relaxed sense of style. His hat and hair were striking, and I wondered if he might be a musician. I could tell immediately I spoke with him that he had an easy-going nature and charm, at ease in his own skin.
I sometimes wonder what prompts me to approach one person over another. It’s obviously subjective, but there’s usually a suggestion that someone has a strong sense of their own style and who they are as an individual. I find that interesting.
The North Laine area of Brighton is a haven for style. Draw up a seat, grab a coffee and just observe folk as they go by. I love it. Brighton is so much more than the beach and the Royal Pavilion. It’s full of characters and heart.
